As all members of the Axco team are working from home, we wanted to share how we’ve been rising to the challenges of life in quarantine. Thankfully for us, Axco is able to operate without obstruction even in these difficult times and business continues as usual. We’re even releasing brand new developments of our products during this time.
So, how are we dealing with WFH life? I answered seven quickfire questions to let the people know. Here are my Home Truths…
Tell us about yourself…
I’m Rani, a Senior Data Analyst working as part of the Statistics and Analytics team at Axco. I’ve been with the company for over 3 years now and working as a team has always been an integral part of what we do. It’s been an interesting experience working from home and a great learning curve in the virtual working space.
How have you overcome the challenges of working in quarantine?
Part of my role involves training team members. An initial challenge with remote working was overall team inclusion while incorporating individual learning techniques during training sessions. Microsoft Teams has been a great user-friendly platform in this space to get everyone in the team together and recreate face-to-face training in a virtual way, with the ability to interact and ask each other questions and devote extra time where needed. There is also the added bonus of recording sessions for those unable to attend and re-watch sessions at their convenience.
Do you have any working from home hacks?
Taking short breaks can be helpful. When the workplace and home become one, it can become difficult to differentiate between the two and the lines become blurred. Breaks can help with focus and productivity. Planning your day ahead can also help you set goals and help balance your time between work and home.
Best quarantine snack?
It’s more of a drink than a snack. I am quite partial to an energy drink now and then.
How is your step count looking?
Honestly? I’m not much of a fitness junkie and don’t obsess over every step I make. However, I do have a daily walk around the block for fresh air and have my routine of daily house chores, so that keeps me active.
My new obsession is…
I have had spare time to read up on DIY and fixing things up around the house. I’ve recently laid 6 square metres of laminate flooring and painted a couple of rooms and gained a new appreciation for patience. I’ve also expanded my selection of power tools in the process.
And finally, what are you most looking forward to?
I started horse riding lessons just a few months before quarantine began and would love to get back on the saddle again.
